Pirou: the whelk capital

Every year the whelk is honored the last weekend of April during the whelk fair. For a weekend, Pirou is the capital of whelk and highlights this quality product recognized by a protected geographical indication (PGI) since 2000. Pirou is also a family beach with its sea water reservoir, its supervised beach, its glaciers, its restaurants... Notice to hikers from GR 223, Don't hesitate to stop off at Pirou beach for a meal or a night.

If the sea is low, it is possible to make a splash in the water reservoir.

What shellfish are caught at Pirou beach?

Shore fishermen will find crabs, mussels, periwinkles and clams in the sandy areas.

Is Pirou beach supervised?

La SNSM of Pirou monitors, in July and August, the beach located in front of its station at slipway level as well as the seawater reservoir.

Several oyster and mussel farmers are based on Pirou Plage and offer direct sales. There is even a seafood distributor on the Pirou Plage square near the supermarket. You can also enjoy these good products in one of the restaurants from the city.
