The Lessay moor has two faces!

Until the beginning of the Middle Ages, the lessay moors were covered with forests oaks, birches... The monks of Lessay Abbey carried out a major deforestation which left room for vast lands of gorse and heather, maintained by grazing or harvesting. At the end of the Second World War, a large part was planted with transforming pines. these moors leveled into wooded moors. Nowadays, the moors are cleared or wooded depending on the location, giving it this particular appearance. halfway between the African savannah and the southwest of France.

Our little secret! During your walk on the moor, have fun smelling the gorse. They give off a smell of monoi that will take you, for a moment, to Polynesia...

The Lessay moors are of remarkable ecological interest.
