On June 6, 1944, the Allies landed on the Normandy coast. In the English Channel, the Americans landed on Madeleine Beach, renamed Utah Beach, in Sainte-Marie-du-Mont. It is one of the five landing beaches with Omaha Beach, Gold Beach, Juno Beach, Sword Beach.
