In the heart of the Cotentin marshes, the Saint-Manvieu Church, built in the 13th and 14th centuries, was included in the inventory of historic monuments in 1946.
The damage suffered by the church during the events of June 1944 revealed murals in the choir.
This ensemble dating from the first half of the 14th century constitutes, for this period, one of the most important ensembles in La Manche.
They represent the Legend of Saint Manvieu (bishop of Bayeux) and the lives of local saints as well as the massacre of the Innocents and the Presentation in the Temple.
These remarkable murals were classified as historic monuments in 1953.
